Concert: A New Shade of Blue @ Dove Park | Dayton | Virginia | United States

A New Shade of Blue will be bringing entertainment to Dove Park as part of our summer concert series! Come out for an evening of bluegrass entertainment from 7-9 p.m.  This is a free outdoor concert, weather permitting.  Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and join us for an enjoyable Saturday night in Dayton!  There’s plenty of room to spread out and practice social distancing and listen to some great music! This event was previously advertised as a “BYOB” event; however, due to public health and safety concerns relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be allowing any alcoholic beverages at this event.

Band Bio:
Ben and Bubba started playing music together as high school students. As they walked the halls playing and singing, they quickly realized that there was potential for something more. In 2009 the band Dixie Pride was formed. The two, along with Ricky and Jacob, performed across the state of Virginia. Due to life changes going into adulthood, the band decided it was best to take a break. Years later Ben and Bubba decided it was time to rekindle, and again, pursue their passion for bluegrass music. Thus in 2017, A New Shade of Blue was established, from the central part of the great Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Ben Gooden (Mandolin) and Bubba Schroeder (Banjo) joined by Wayne Turner (Guitar) and David Knicely (Bass), quickly rose in popularity across the valley and surrounding areas. In 2019 a fifth person was added to the group, George Aschmann (fiddle). With drive, stage presence, and a great blend of vocal harmonies; A New Shade of Blue delivers enjoyable bluegrass entertainment.

The Muddler (Dayton, VA) -- In Partnership with the Harrisonburg Police Foundation--CANCELLED @ Dove Park | Dayton | Virginia | United States

COVID-19 UPDATE: The Muddler – Dayton, VA 2020 Cancelled!

Out of concern for public health and safety, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Muddler.

We know that participants, teams, and spectators have been looking forward to training and experiencing this tremendously fun and challenging event together.

Unfortunately, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to rise in the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County area and we don’t know what the next two months will bring. This event involves many people in very close contact. Social distancing would be impossible. We were at the point of having to make a decision and we made it with public safety in mind.

People who have already registered will be refunded directly through the RunSignup App within the coming weeks.

In the meantime, please support this year’s partners and beneficiaries by donating directly to: Harrisonburg Police Foundation https://harrisonburgpolicefoundation.org/ and the Bridgewater Fire Department, http://www.bridgewaterfire.com/, if you are able. And, please support the Dayton Police Department and all the businesses in Dayton!

Follow our Town’s website and Facebook pages for future announcements regarding plans for 2021.

Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you next year!
